More shooting

Newer members of the E.S.U. who didn’t have chance to try small bore rifle shooting earlier in the year got the opportunity to try it out at Leeds Harehills club.

Thanks once again to Howard & Rob for organising another session.

This counts as a start towards the master at arms section of the physical recreation badge.

Practice makes perfect

Both X & Y sections had a practice run in preparation for making an Italian meal for the parents in December. Chris Tolson, Scout leader & professional chef, lent his expertise which was much appreciated. In spite of the mess, the food tasted good.

Well done (again)

Our 3 Explorers (Lucy, Morgan and Tom) who gained their Chief Scout’s platinum and Duke of Edinburgh’s bronze award badges earlier this year were presented with their certificates at the Central Yorkshire Scout county awards ceremony.

Morgan also took part in a presentation about his unit (28) attending the jamboree during the summer to an audience including the deputy Lord-lieutenant of West Yorkshire.

Well done

Last night saw us at Hetchell wood to play a wide game then welcome another 7 Explorers who were invested. There was a backlog of activity and staged badges presented and a Yorkshire challenge bronze award.

We also saw Tom, Lucy & Morgan presented with their Duke of Edinburgh bronze awards and Chief Scout’s platinum awards; great effort & well done.

11 of our unit went to Brimham rocks for a climbing course run by North Yorkshire Scouts.

9 of the Explorers finished off their climber activity badge, having also been to Harrogate climbing wall previously and some also climb as part of a club.

Well done. And thanks to North Yorks. Scouts for running the course along with Sean from Elmets Explorers for looking after us.
